Chemonics International Inc. a U.S. based international development consulting firm, seeks qualified candidates for the positions of Business Finance Officer and Bookkeeper for the USAID-funded Feed the Future Zimbabwe (FTFZ) Fostering Agribusiness for Resilient Markets (FARM) activity. This five-year activity will support farmers, their households, and communities to diversify, intensify, and commercialize their crop and livestock production to build their assets and be more able to absorb, adapt, and transform in the face of climate, economic, and other shocks, allowing them to live healthier and more productive lives. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of smallholder farmers across Zimbabwe.
Primary responsibilities
Provide support for all aspects of project financial management, ensuring that all expenses are recorded appropriately; Chemonics home office, project office and USAID rules and regulations are followed; and that all project funds are used appropriately as outlined in the project contract; Support Accountant in monthly bank reconciliation process; Assist Accountant with preparing monthly cash reconciliation to close the month’s books; Assist with petty cash management, including verification and review of petty cash payments for accuracy, legitimacy, and reconciliation of remaining cash with the Accountant whenever replenishment is required; Assist Accountant with tracking staff annual leave, sick, and holiday leave balances; and maintaining accurate timesheet records and ensuring all timesheets are submitted on time with the correct approvals; Process expense reports, complete bank reconciliations, and draft financial projections; Review project staff expense reports for accuracy; Assist in maintaining communication and coordination with home office accounting unit; Assist Finance & Administration Lead and Accountant in ensuring all Zimbabwe-specific accounting and tax requirements are met; Review cash balances daily and support the preparation of wire transfer requests; Maintain ABACUS and prepare monthly project locals according to project guidelines; Assist Accountant in preparation and processing of monthly payroll, ensuring that payroll forms are accurate and fully completed on time; Prepare monthly invoices for accounts receivables; Maintain proper financial data and financial files; Assist the Accountant with financial reporting and analysis; Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the Accountant.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field; At least two (2) years of relevant bookkeeping, financial management and/or accounting experience; Knowledge of basic accounting and accounting practices is required, as well as general accounting best practices in Zimbabwe; Knowledge of USAID and procedures preferred but not required
