Job Overview
Midlands State University is inviting applications from qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Biomedical Technician. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the functionality, safety, and compliance of laboratory and radiology equipment at the Centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform first-line repairs and ongoing maintenance of laboratory and radiology equipment
- Develop and implement both corrective and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
- Supervise subcontractors during installations and repairs
- Maintain detailed documentation of all repair and maintenance work
- Keep an updated inventory of all medical and technical equipment
- Provide technical support and guidance to the Centre as needed
- Ensure compliance with ionizing radiation regulations and safety procedures
- Support implementation and maintenance of internal quality assurance protocols
- Promote a safe working environment for staff, patients, and visitors
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- National Diploma in Applied Physics and Instrumentation, Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Systems, or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with medical equipment (laboratory and/or radiology)

- Discretion in handling sensitive or confidential information
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and beyond standard working hours when required
