Key Responsibilities
- Manage Internal Audit operations.
- Develop, implement and evaluate policies and procedures guiding the Internal Audit function.
- Plan audit assignments and coordinate internal and external audit activities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the University’s internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies and regulations.
- Assess the cost-effectiveness of University operations.
- Prepare audit reports and analyse audit results.
- Conduct checks on the management of University assets.
- Communicate audit findings and recommendations to Management and auditees.
- Coordinate and report on University Risk Management and Fiduciary Control activities.
- Provide periodic reports to the Audit Committee and service Committee meetings.
- Evaluate risk levels in University units and recommend mitigatory measures.
- Ensure audit activities are in line with best practice.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs and Administration.
Requirements
- Applicants should have:
- At least a Master’s Degree in Accountancy, Business or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Auditing from a recognised institution.
- At least five years’ post-qualification experience.
- ACCA, CIMA or professional membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors is an added advantage.
