A large diversified corporate group is looking for an Assistant Merchandising Manager. The position exists to help drive business performance and achievement of set revenue and profitability targets for various companies through the effective & efficient implementation of merchandising strategies and business processes and demonstration of effective people management skills to satisfy and exceed various organizational expectations. This person needs to be a strong leader, energetic, highly strategic, entrepreneurial, and dynamic and be a comfortable self-starter
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure that creation and implementation of merchandising strategy designed to grow business for all business units.
• Supervision, guidance and mentorship for merchandisers and ensuring a strong performance management culture across all the business units.
• Driving the revenue agenda and ensuring that all budgets are exceeded and maximum profitability is achieved.
• Regularly engaging customers and receiving feedback on product performance and market trends.
• Conduct regular market analysis, understanding competitor activity and collate all the market intelligence information and share with the customers for strategic planning purposes.
• Responsible for ensuring that (a) line pricing is adhered to on same pricing SKU’s; (b) maximum compliance on promotional and marketing campaign execution is maintained for the entire duration of the promotional or marketing campaign period.
• Ensure the implementation of set systems that minimize stock holding period and stock losses due to breakages, poor displays unaccounted deliveries.
• Continuous training and development for all merchandisers to ensure best practice at all times.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The ideal Candidate must possess the following
• A Diploma/Degree in Marketing Management, Sales Management, Business Management or Retail Management from a reputable university or college
• A certificate in merchandising management a distinct advantage.
• At least 3 years relevant experience in management preferably in a sales or retail set up.
• Proactive and entrepreneurial individual with ability to analyse problems and formulate practical solutions with a bias towards best practise.
• Knowledge of financial and human resources management is required.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with a high concern for order and quality.
