JOB DESCRIPTION

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced, self-motivated and task- oriented individuals to fill the position of ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE OFFICER FINANCE (GRADE 9) that has arisen within Marondera Rural District Council.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervising lower grade staff in the finance department including carrying out appraisals
• Posting month-end journals & preparing bank reconciliations
• Undertake payroll related activities, including preparation, reconciliations and statutory payments
• Timely production of Monthly & Quarterly Financial Statements
• Preparation of cash flow projections & management reports for decision making
• Preparation of annual budgets using specialized software and variance analysis
• Assist on preparation of year-end financial statements in accordance with IFRS and IPSAS
• Provision of effective support to the Executive Officer Finance
• Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Accounting or Finance Degree/ACCA
• Extensive knowledge of SAGE PASTEL Evolution
• Knowledge of Accounting Standards (IAS,IFRS or IPSAS) and any other relevant legislations applicable to the industry is also a must
• At least 3 years’ experience in related Public Sector/Local Government setup
• At least 25 years of age
• Honest, trustworthy & good problem solving skills
• Ability to multi-task and to work under pressure with tight deadlines
• Excellent IT skills, in particular MS Excel, word, outlook & modern tools used in the industry
• Good written, numerical and oral communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Effective leadership and management skills with ability to deliver results
