Reporting to the Grant Accountant the job holder is responsible for supporting the implementation of the project and providing timely and reliable grant financial information and analysis that leads to effective decision making. The job holder is also responsible for grants cash and budget management, grant financial reporting, field visits and community capacity building.

Accountabilities

• Reviews the project budgets and proposals for the grant and budget modifications and submit the same to Accountant for incorporation into country budgets
• Review grants and project financial reports in SAP for accurate donor expenditure reporting, reconciling and ensuring timeous resolution of queries in liaison with other relevant functions.
• Perform cash management function, maintaining bank and cash balances to levels sufficient to meet program requirements and cash threshold.
• Perform bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations and cash requests from donors ensuring that financial resources are utilized and invested efficiently.
• Reviewing of payment requests and other documents for completeness and adherence to policy
• Review procurement requests and commitments of goods and services in accordance with Plan procurement procedures and donor requirements.
• Filing all payment vouchers, journals and receipts sequentially.
• Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and regular monitoring of staff advances.
• Conducting inventory and assets verifications in line with the respective policies.
• Monitoring partner advances, reviewing their liquidation reports for completeness and adherence to policy and following up on outstanding issues.
• Preparing funds requests based on the Program Area’s requirements and a positive budget balance.
• Processing payments through bank transfers in New Business On Line (NBOL) and banking of all cash received.
• Ensure compliance to donor requirements on financial issues for the grant
• Prepare and distribute grant monthly grant BVA to Monitor budget versus expenditure for the grant
• Coordinate and facilitate the audit of the grant as per contractual agreement.
• Regular field visits to all grant funded projects to verify that resources are optimally used.
• Promotes and abides by internal policies and procedures including but not limited to: Child protection Policy; Code of Conduct; mandatory reporting responsibility

Knowledge
• A degree in Accounting; CIS or equivalent qualification
• 5 “O” levels including Mathematics and English Language.
• 2 years’ experience in a similar role in an NGO environment

Skills
• Analytical skills, Communication skills, appropriate to the audience
• Ability to interpret and work accordance with laid down procedures.
• Proficient in computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications, e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet
