The following positions have arisen within the City of Bulawayo:

WORKS DEPARTMENT

(1) ARCHITECT – GRADE 10 (1 POST)

1. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/ JOB SUMMARY

• Create building designs and highly detailed drawings

• Identify the materials to be used and specify the requirements for the project

• Conduct site visits and construction supervision

• Evaluate and advise on environmental, legal and model building by-law issues

• Assess what surveys are required before work can commence

• Prepare and present design proposals using computer-aided design (CAD) and traditional drawing methods

• Produce, analyse and advise on detailed specifications for suitable materials or processes to be used

• Appraise on the performance of buildings which are in use and produce maintenance management information

• Use advanced software like CAD or ArchiCAD in preparing architectural maintenance management information

Enforce compliance of all architectural procedures, processes, guidelines and standards

2. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• A Degree in Architectural Studies or equivalent

• A clean Class 4 Driver’s Licence

3. EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• At least 4 years’ experience in a similar work environment
