SMEETING DIVISION (KWEKWE)
Zimasco (Pvt) Limited, a major player in Zimbabwe’s Ferrochrome Production, has an exciting, and challenging career opportunity at its Smelting Division in Kwekwe.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, competent and experienced individuals to fill the vacant post of *Analytical, Research and Development Chemist* on a *3-year fixed term employment contract basis*, renewable subject to performance.
ANALYTICAL, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CHEMIST
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
– A degree in Chemistry or equivalent from a reputable institution
– A minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience in a heavy industrial, or manufacturing or mining and mineral processing environment
– Working knowledge of laboratory instruments that include AA, XRF, ICP OES and UV VIS
– Proven experience in gold, PGMs and base metals analysis
– Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite and any other reputable ERP System, preferably SAP
– Working knowledge of SHE and Quality Systems and exposure to the NOSA SHE System will be an added advantage
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
– Analytical process and systems development in line with technological advances to optimise efficiencies
– Provide continuous and timeous assaying services to production and user departments
– Pyro metallurgical processes control to ensure production of conforming products which satisfy customer requirements
– Apply laboratory sampling and analysis techniques to ensure accuracy of analytical results
– Conducting analysis for Gold, PGMs and base metals
– Implementing ISO 17025:2017 and ISO 9001:2015 standards for Quality Management Systems
– Minimize customer complaints through use of analytical data to control dispatch of only conforming products
– Research, development and implementation of new methods of sampling and analysis in line with new developments in sampling and analysis field
– Benchmark Zimasco Laboratory operations with best practice
– Implementation of the sectional SHE and Quality Management Systems
– Supervision of key laboratory staff to sustain effective and efficient team performance
