Hippo Valley Estates Limited AGRICULTURE & TECHNICAL TRAINING MANAGER Role Purpose: To design, develop, coordinate and evaluate the efficient administration of the agriculture and technical skills training and development activities within the policy framework of the THZ Operations in pursuit of operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts annual technical training and extension needs assessments.
  • Identifies current and future training needs through job analysis, career paths, performance appraisals, and consultation with line managers.
  • Designs and facilitates training needs assessments for Agriculture and Mill Operations.
  • Reviews training plans based on changes in production systems and skills requirements.
  • Recommends internal and external courses and facilitators.
  • Identifies performance gaps and advises line managers.
  • Develops and reviews training policies.
  • Manages recruitment and deployment of trainees (Graduate Learners, Trainee Managers, Apprentices, Agricultural Cadets, Attachments).
  • Engages with external learning institutions (Agriculture and Technical Colleges).
  • Coordinates learner deployment, attachments, and program evaluations.
  • Evaluates technical training programs and provides recommendations for curriculum improvement.
  • Develops technical and soft skills training programs for various staff groups.
  • Designs and reviews training curricula and materials.
  • Ensures relevance and quality of training content.
  • Supports development of SOPs with line managers.
  • Facilitates training for Agriculture and Technical Operations.

  • Develops KPAs for Training personnel.
  • Identifies, acquires, and maintains training materials, facilities, equipment, and reference resources.
  • Plans recruitment for structured training programs.
  • Develops and monitors training programs for trainees and cadets.
  • Supports succession planning for managers and technical staff.
  • Implements mentorship programs for target groups.
  • Monitors trainee performance with line managers and coaches.
  • Coordinates attachment programs with learning institutions.
  • Develops training material aligned with SHE requirements.
  • Recommends inclusion of SHE elements in SOPs.
  • Works with management and SHE officers on procedure improvements.
  • Ensures training material aligns with SHE standards.
  • Participates in internal SHE audits and reporting.

Requirements

  • Graduate qualification Agriculture or Engineering Sciences
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Management courses
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Training Management
  • Advanced Oral and written presentation skills in word, excel and power point.
  • Verbal and written proficiency in the English language.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in Training technics
  • Self-starter and ability to work with minimal supervision
