VACANCY NOTICE

 


Position: Company Secretary
Station: Lotteries and Gaming Board.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer.

 

 

The Lotteries and Gaming Board, established under the Lotteries and Gaming Act Chapter 10:26, is mandated to regulate and supervise the lotteries and gaming industry in Zimbabwe. The Board invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals to fill the position of Company Secretary.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  • Serve as principal advisor to the Board on corporate governance, legal, and statutory matters.

  • Ensure the Board and its Committees operate within the legal and regulatory framework.

  • Ensure compliance with Corporate Governance Act.

  • Processing documents and negotiating contracts.

  • Identifying and mitigating risks.

  • Conducting preliminary and follow-up investigations and interviews.

  • Maintain statutory registers and ensure timely filing of returns with relevant authorities.

  • Coordinate Board meetings, prepare agendas, and record accurate minutes.

  • Draft and review contracts, policies, and legal documents to ensure compliance.

  • Facilitate Board induction, training, and performance evaluations.

  • Liaise with external legal counsel and regulatory bodies on behalf of the Board.

  • Promote ethical conduct and good governance across the organisation.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

 

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Bachelor of Business Administration, or equivalent. A Master’s degree or professional qualification (CIS) is an added advantage.

  • At least 5 years experience in corporate governance, legal advisory, or company secretarial services-preferably within a public sector or regulatory environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of Zimbabwean corporate law, public sector governance frameworks, and statutory compliance.

  • Proven ability to manage Board affairs with discretion and professionalism.
