VACANCY
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following vacant position.
PLANNING TECHNICIAN GRADE 8
The position reports to the Engineer
MAJOR ACTIVITIES OF THE JOB
- Preparation of Master and Local Plans in terms of the RTCP Act (Chapter 29:12)
- Preparations of layout plans for residential, commercial, industrial and other uses.
- Maintenance and updating subdivision and change of use registers
- Manning of drawing office
- Preparation of Town Planning Section budgets and work plans
- Digitizing and mapping of all the properties and utilities under the jurisdiction of Council in GIS
- Development control in terms of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act (Chapter 29:12)
- Site selection for different land uses
- Peg search
- Any other duties assigned by the superiors
Qualifications
- A minimum of a National Diploma in Rural and Urban Planning or equivalent from a recognized institution
- Knowledge of GiS and 3D draughting software is a must
- Clean Class 4 driver’s license.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Be mature (at least 30 years) and self-motivated
- At least 2 years’ relevant experience in Local Government.
