VACANCY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following vacant position.

PLANNING TECHNICIAN GRADE 8

The position reports to the Engineer

MAJOR ACTIVITIES OF THE JOB

• Preparation of Master and Local Plans in terms of the RTCP Act (Chapter 29:12)
• Preparations of layout plans for residential, commercial, industrial and other uses.
• Maintenance and updating subdivision and change of use registers
• Manning of drawing office
• Preparation of Town Planning Section budgets and work plans
• Digitizing and mapping of all the properties and utilities under the jurisdiction of Council in GIS
• Development control in terms of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act (Chapter 29:12)
• Site selection for different land uses
• Peg search
• Any other duties assigned by the superiors

Qualifications

• A minimum of a National Diploma in Rural and Urban Planning or equivalent from a recognized institution
• Knowledge of GiS and 3D draughting software is a must
• Clean Class 4 driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Be mature (at least 30 years) and self-motivated
• At least 2 years’ relevant experience in Local Government.
