JOB DESCRIPTION
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the vacancy of Technical Accountant that has arisen within First Mutual Life Assurance Company in the Finance Department.
Job Specification
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Business Unit performance reports.
- Preparing month end journals for claims intimations, income, commission, reassurance and policy holder/shareholder fees.
- Preparing monthly Area Office profitability statements.
- Preparing SBUs financial forecasts.
- Preparing performance reports for all schemes.
- Gathering all input for actuarial valuations and experience investigation.
- Preparing reassurance calculations and payment schedules.
- Designing internal control systems and procedures for implementation and enforcement in order to minimize financial leakages.
- Maintaining Business Unit financial records.
- Preparing and maintaining Business Unit budgets.
- Attending to and resolving queries from Administrators and SBUs.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate must possess the following:
- Degree in Accounting/ Finance.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Accounting/ Finance environment
- Excellent academic records such as University awards or book prizes
- Self-starter and self-motivated, willing to take up new challenges
