JOB DESCRIPTION
Suitably qualified, experienced and motivated candidates are invited to apply for the position of Networks Engineer which has arisen within the Technology Services Department.
Job Purpose
To monitor, configure and optimise systems in line with Technology Services performance standards for Steward Bank.
Key Responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, among others:
- Researches on emerging network technologies, best practices and provides recommendations.
- Configures and upgrades new and existing equipment, hardware, and software.
- Develops and updates a robust network architecture to address both wired and wireless network needs for the Bank.
- Produces technical specifications for tender and Gantt charts on project system implementations for network projects.
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades and network optimization.
- Engages with various network vendors to optimize the network topology, grow or change services, and set service levels.
- Provides Level 1 and Level 2 support for telecommunication network including VoIP, QoS, SIP, IPsec, VPN, MPLS, and WAN technologies.
- Advises and recommends to Technology Infrastructure & Networks Manager on networking issues
- Carries out scheduled maintenance services on all network equipment quarterly.
- Checks and monitors data centre environmental conditions and advises service providers on anomalies.
- Checks quality assurance on procured network related goods and services.
- Configures, maintains and administers VoIP servers, telephony devices, switches, routers, firewalls and VPN services in line with set performance standards.
- Performs backups, archiving & disaster recovery network equipment.
- Tests the Disaster Recovery procedures & updates processes, policies in line with the ERM plan and advises the Infrastructure and Networks Manager
- Performs root cause analysis for service interruption, resolves and / or escalates to the Infrastructure and Networks Manager
- Researches on emerging network technologies, best practices and provides recommendations.
- Configures and upgrades new and existing equipment, hardware, and software.
Qualification, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Informatics or equivalent is required.
- CISCO Certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE etc.}, or equivalent certification.
- 2 to 4 years’ experience in Technology or related environment.
