Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical and electronic faults on motor vehicles.
  • Carrying out repairs to vehicle electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, starting, charging, and electronic control systems.
  • Conducting vehicle diagnostics using manufacturer-approved diagnostic equipment.
  • Troubleshooting CAN Bus, ECU, sensor, actuator, ABS, SRS, and other electronic system faults.
  • Installing, testing, and repairing vehicle accessories and electrical components.
  • Ensuring all repairs are completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, OEM repair procedures, and workshop quality standards.
  • Maintaining accurate job cards, repair records, and technical documentation.
  • Providing technical support and recommendations on complex electrical faults.
  • Adhering to company health, safety, and quality standards.

Requirements

  • National Certificate (NC) in Auto Electrics and Apprentice-trained Journeyman Auto Electrician.
  • At least five (5) years’ post-apprenticeship experience, preferably within a franchised motor vehicle dealership with minimum of three (3) years’ dealership experience working with passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles.
  • OEM certifications (e.g., Ford, Isuzu, Mazda, Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagen, or other recognised manufacturers).
  • Proven experience using OEM diagnostic systems and manufacturer-approved repair procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems, including CAN Bus networks, ECUs, sensors, actuators, and multiplex wiring systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of advanced diagnostic and fault-finding equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair multiple vehicle brands in a dealership environment.
  • Hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) diagnostic and repair training.
  • Experience with manufacturer technical portals, service bulletins, and warranty repair procedures.
