Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (Watsan) Supervisor

Supervisor: WASH Manager

Objective of the postSupporting the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (Watsan) Manager in the implementation and supervision Water, Health activities to MSF standards and protocols within Zimbabwe (and within the region), in order to improve health and living conditions of the target population.

Educational and professional background

• University degree desirable in water resource management, hydrogeology, environmental engineering; Three years minimum working experience in water works preferably in an NGO environment, • Experience working in WASH related projects is an advantage: • Experience in basic water quality analysis, • Experience in designing and producing a BoQ of a simple motorized water supply setup; • Able to install/operate/maintain borehole pumps (motorized pump, submersible& solar); • MS Office, good communications, reporting and analytical skills,• Able to establish priorities and follow-up plans; • Motivation to work in an international / inter-cultural context & humanitarian team spirit: • High flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Job Requirements:

• Work in close collaboration with the hygiene promotion team for identification of sites and communication with the authorities, communities and/or institutions. • Support in organizing capacity building programs for borehole siting, drilling and rehabilitation. This involves designing of set-up; capacity testing and water quality analysis to confirm feasibility. Also the initial preparation of bill of quantities and selection of contractor. • Timely follow-up of contractors on all programs to ensure proper execution of work. • Undertake maintenance training for the community health clubs on the basic needs for maintenance and small repairs of the WASH installations. • Participate in conducting pilots around waste management and sanitation in urban and rural contexts. • Follow up on indicators to document the project activities to ensure objectives are being net Proper organization, documentation and filing of information on activities.
