WATER AND SANITATION TECHNICIAN

QUALIFICATIONS

• A Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution
• At least 3 years post qualification experience
• Local Government experience will be added advantage
• Clean Class 4 drivers licence

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operations and maintenance of water and sanitation sections of Council • Designation, drawing, data compilation and safe-keeping of all information relating to water and sewer infrastructure • Supervision of water and sewer construction works • Ensure that all reports relating to water and sewer are timeously attended to
• Any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or head of department.

ATTRIBUTES

• Disease prevention and control in the town through investigation of cases of infectious diseases and ensure disease epidemic preparedness • Health and hygiene promotion • Implementation and enforcement of public health legislation and crafting of relevant public health by-laws • Representing council and interacting with various stakeholders and partners in the implementation of public health programs • Identifying public health related projects and preparation of project proposals • Building plan approvals in line with set standards • Staff supervision • Compile periodic reports
