Position Overview
SOS Children’s Villages Zimbabwe is seeking committed and passionate individuals to volunteer as Project Officers under the Green Project, part of the Family Strengthening Program in Wedza. This is a unique opportunity for early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in environmental programming, community engagement, and green energy solutions, while making a tangible impact in the lives of youth and families.
Key Responsibilities

Support the Green Energy Field Officer and Community-Based Volunteers in implementing activities at community, ward, and district levels.

Engage with ward-level stakeholders to facilitate technical and leadership support for the Green Energy Project.

Conduct home visits to families participating in the project and monitor their progress against Family Development Plans.

Gather and relay feedback from families and children to the Project Officer.

Organize and document regular meetings with volunteers and stakeholders.

Promote sustainable environmental practices such as biogas use and natural resource management.

Ensure child safeguarding risks are identified and mitigation strategies developed in collaboration with the Green Energy Project Officer.

Participate in program evaluations, progress reviews, and contribute innovative ideas to enhance project impact and community voice.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Climate Change, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Required Competencies:

At least 1 year of relevant experience in project implementation, youth development, or community-based initiatives.

Strong understanding of community engagement and stakeholder coordination.

Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.

Proven ability to lead meetings, document progress, and apply result-based management approaches.

Knowledge of sustainable practices and climate-smart approaches is highly desirable.
