VMMC Site Nurses x4: Zimbabwe Association of Church-Related Hospitals (ZACH)

Job Purpose
This position is responsible for providing skilled circumcision services to the eligible persons in Zimbabwe, as well as providing training and mentoring support for healthcare workers and other multidisciplinary staff providing safe male circumcision services in Zimbabwe.

Responsibilities
To participate in VMMC service delivery as follows:

Surgical Procedure
To participate in VMMC activities in ZACH designated sites, outreach activities and mass circumcision campaigns; Assist in the circumcisions by performing tasks related to the surgery such as suturing, and postoperative management; Prepare materials required for the surgical procedures to be performed; Sterilization and disposal of surgical products and medical waste; Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure stringent infection control is maintained

Counselling
Provide pre-, intra and post-operative VMMC counselling; Post-operative follow-up of clients and appropriate referral where necessary

Infection control
Ensure adequate levels of infection control at the service delivery sites; Sterility at point of service provision; Participate in ZACH/MOH organized mass circumcision and other VMMC scale up activities

Other duties as assigned
Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Qualifications, skills and Knowledge Required
Nurse with more than 5 years’ experience in clinical practice; Training and experience in counselling in relation to HIV/AIDS; Training in Basic VMMC, Surgery and Prepex Device placement; Valid registration with the Zimbabwe Nursing Council; Good knowledge in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care issues; Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, organizational and communication skills, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a demanding environment; Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, flexibility, diplomacy, cross-cultural communication, willingness to listen, and respect for colleagues; Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently; Clear written and verbal communication skills, and close attention to detail; Fluent written and spoken English; Willingness to engage in frequent travel to hospitals facilities throughout Zimbabwe

Desired
Good knowledge of the Zimbabwe health sector; Participation in the Zimbabwe VMMC training program
