Climate X Indigenous Voices is seeking four travel vloggers and digital content creators-one from each of Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania-to document Indigenous communities, cultures, lived experiences and environmental challenges across Africa.

The initiative seeks to amplify Indigenous knowledge, climate resilience and lived experiences while bringing Indigenous perspectives into wider climate and climate justice conversations through compelling digital storytelling.

Purpose of the Assignment
Each selected creator will document one Indigenous community in their respective country through an immersive travel storytelling approach. The content will combine travel, local culture, personal experiences and conversations with community members to explore how climate change is affecting daily life, livelihoods, culture and relationships with the environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a content plan covering the proposed travel route, filming locations, community engagement approach and key climate themes.
  • Travel to one selected Indigenous community within their assigned country.
  • Engage respectfully with community members, local leaders and knowledge holders.
  • Document the journey, landscapes, culture and environmental context.
  • Explore relevant climate challenges, including changing weather patterns, biodiversity loss, food security, water access and displacement.
  • Showcase Indigenous knowledge, resilience strategies and locally led climate solutions where appropriate.
  • Produce engaging travel vlog content suitable for digital audiences.
  • Deliver edited videos optimized for social media platforms.
  • Capture supporting photographs and short video clips.
  • Submit raw footage, project files and final edited assets to the project team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience creating engaging travel or documentary-style video content.
  • Strong storytelling and video production skills.
  • An active presence on at least one major digital platform, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or Facebook.
  • Ability to independently produce high-quality edited videos.
  • Experience working with rural or community-based stories is an advantage.
