DEPARTMENT OF SPORTS AND RECREATION

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Sports,
Possession of a Master’s Degree in Physical Education and Sports or related field will be an added advantage,
At least 5 years’ experience from reputable organisations,
Knowledge of sports associations is essential,
Traceable teaching or lecturing background
Knowledgeable on University structures and general policies.

JOB DESCRIPTION –SPORTS OFFICER

The sports Officer is expected to show and demonstrate knowledge and skills to the execution of the following:

Developing and nurturing sports and recreation programmes for holistic development of both students and members of staff
Introducing new sporting disciplines that are for a recreational nature to a critical mass of students and members of staff for active living.
Professional liaising with students and members of staff for purposes of enrichment through sports associations, organizations/federations.
Motivating students and members of staff to engage in health lifestyles.
Managing departmental resources.
Evaluating sporting and recreational activities and or programmes.
Compiling and submitting departmental reports from outing or within.
Sourcing sponsorship/donations to augment the University resources.
Supervising departmental personnel, equipment and facilities.
Attending meeting and making recommendation based on the department policies.
Exercising maturity and professional execution in matters of communication and protocol.
