Social Protection Project Coordinator
Reporting to: Head of Program
Duration- 4 months – Fixed term contract. A vacancy has arisen within DanChurchAid for a Social Protection Project Coordinator based in Harare.
Purpose of the Position.
Incumbent is expected to provide leadership, coordination and management in implementation of the pilot social protection project in Epworth Local Board Area in compliance with donor/grant requirements and DCA humanitarian standards. The position entails management of activities including beneficiary targeting, selection, registration, stakeholder engagement and longitudinal research work. The function involves intense monitoring of the project’s deliverables to ensure that the project is executed on scope, on time, on budget and with the relevant quality expectations.
• Lead the roll-out phase of the project and ensure that the most deserving vulnerable households are registered to benefit from social protection interventions
• Work collaboratively with key stakeholders such as the Local Board, District council, DA, residents associations and relevant government ministries ensuring their active participation
• Provide support to the longitudinal research and documentation process to ensure lessons learnt are captured
• Assist the development of appropriate mid to long term livelihoods income generating projects
• Oversee and manage psycho-social and protection related issues and risks
• Oversee consistent data collection for monitoring and research purposes
• Formulate regular reports for analysis, leading up to diagnosis, and recommendation on future interventions
• Mainstream gender in all project activities to ensure all vulnerable social groups participate in the project
• Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly progress updates to the line manager
• Compile monthly and periodic reports as required by the donor
• Ensure that registered households receive entitlements timeously
• Perform any other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills
• Master’s Degree in Disaster Management Sciences, Food Security, Social Sciences, Rural and Urban Planning
• Minimum of 5 years relevant and proven experience working in similar scope and environment
• Must be able to lead, supervise and train their team, incorporating and appreciating an intercultural diversity and values
• He/she should be able to implement measures designed to monitor and implement project quality
• Self-starter and ability to work with minimum supervision
• Knowledge of budgets and budgetary processes essential
