HWANGE POWER STATION – EXPANSION PROJECT
Zimbabwe Power Company is the leading generator of electrical energy in Zimbabwe and supplies the bulk of the nation’s electric power requirements from its five power stations ZPC is undertaking various projects that are meant to close the gap between electrical energy demand and supply. The company is now on the execution stage of the 600MW Hwange Power Station: Expansion Project. We are therefore inviting suitably qualified and motivated persons for the following vacant position of the project that has arisen on a fixed-term contract basis of up to 18 months:

Qualifications and Experience
- A Degree in Environmental Health and safety management or other relevant disciplines
- NSS A Diptoman OHSAS
- At least 8 years of relevant experience
- Membershipofarecognizedprofessionaiinsiiution
- Masters in relevant field will be an added advantage
- Project Management qualification and certification will be an added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identifies and raises awareness of safety and environment issues for the project.
- Ensurescompianceto the HSE ConstructionGudeineforthe project
- Ensures production and maintenance of Environment, heath and safety programmes
- Conducts seminars and awareness campaigns on health and safety issues
- Ensures that health and safety meetings are held as per statutory requirements
- Ensures that the Authority’s HIV/AIDS policy is implemented
- Offers periodic feedback to management on Environment, health and safety matters.
- Carries out routine or unplanned visits and inspections to ensure compliance with Environment, health and safety legislation and taking action to improve conditions;
- Initiates and oversees investigations on complaints from the general public
- Initiates and oversees investigations of accidents at work and complaints about poor standards of health and safety, as well as identify ing areas of negligence;
- Investigates outbreaks of infectious diseases and prevent their spreading
- Advises on panning and licensing applications:
- Monitors levels of noise, air. land and water pollution;
- Advises on Environment, health and safety issues in relation to new buildings and developments
