Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain computer laboratories and ICT equipment.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and networks.
  • Provide technical support to staff and students during teaching, research, and examinations.
  • Maintain servers, operating systems, databases, and cybersecurity measures.
  • Ensure the availability, functionality, and security of laboratory resources.
  • Assist with the procurement, inventory management, and maintenance of ICT equipment and software.
  • Supervise and mentor technical staff and laboratory assistants.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, maintenance records, and asset registers.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and ICT policies.
  • Support departmental research, innovation, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Liaise with the University’s ICT Department and external service providers on technical matters.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and recommend improvements to ICT infrastructure and laboratory services.

Requirements

  • Must have a National Diploma in Computer Studies, or an equivalent in the related field.
  • Must have a BSc Honours Degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering or an equivalent in the related field.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant post qualification working experience would be an added advantage.
  • The successful candidate should demonstrate proficiency in computer hardware and software maintenance, network administration, server management, laboratory management, cybersecurity, and ICT infrastructure support.
  • The candidate should possess strong troubleshooting, supervisory, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to support teaching, research, and administrative activities within the Department of Computer Science.
