VICE CHANCELLOR’S OFFICE
Vacancy : RISK OFFICER (1 POST)
The Risk Officer plays a pivotal role in the formulation and implementation of policy frameworks in the overall management of University risks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake a comprehensive risk assessment for all University departments, operations, processes, equipment and facilities.
- Formulate and recommend risk mitigation plans, policies and protocols.
- Maintain and review the University Risk Management Framework.
- Champion the compilation and review of University’s Strategic Risk register.
- Champion the compilation and review of Departmental Risk registers.
- Quantify risk limits.
- Manage and administer the University’s insurance portfolio.
- Supervise the filing of insurance claims, monitor progress and verify that payments have been done.
- Liaise with the Safety Officer on all issues pertaining to risk inherent in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Be responsible for all risk related Training and Development of staff.
- Compile quarterly risk management reports.
- Maintain and update accidents register.
- Communicate the University’s risk profile to Risk Management Committee.
- Carrying out any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- First Degree Degree in Insurance and Risk Management or equivalent.
- Masters Degree in Insurance and Risk Management or equivalent.
- At least 4 years’ experience in a Risk Management environment in a reputable organization where University experience will be an added advantage.
- Leadership and people management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Decision making and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Good organizational skills.
