INTERACTIONS: Sales Manager, Growers, Depot Supervisor, Merchandisers, van sales team and general hands
LOCATION: Bulawayo Depot, Bulawayo

JOB PURPOSE:
The Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring that Processes of receiving, storing, ripening, dispatch and merchandising of product are done as per Matanuska standards at the depot and in retail stores.

 

MAJOR FUNCTIONS / ACCOUNTABILITIES
Produce daily and weekly written – reports on quality in coming at depot, in storage and in the market.
To assist in drafting of SOPs, SICs and checklist where needed.
Monitoring and providing inputs and assistance for all action plans for corrective and preventative measures for Rezende depot and retail. Providing progress reports on the actions plan status.
To ensure adherence to all SOPs making sure every granular detail is followed.
Monitoring the critical control points for Ripening process to ensure that processes are under control.
To monitor and carry out audits on
– Systems at depot, distribution, and van-sales
– Preventative maintenance of the depot
– Health and safety at the depot
– Retail stores
– Compliance to SICs and SOPs at depot and in retail store by merchandisers
– Compliance to hygiene standards

To assist Operations and Sales to carry out root cause analysis for complaints and audit non-conformances at depot and in retail.
To provide training on aligning the SOPs and the operations being undertaken by operators at the depot.
To mentor and guide and provide training to the resources on quality, hygiene, and food safety.
To engage with management, depot operations supervisor, sales supervisor, and merchandisers on a continuous basis
To assess incoming product and give feedback to growers on the received product.
To provide input on SOP’s and SIC ‘s
To report to the Quality Manager on a weekly on all Quality issues.
To report disciplinary issues to relevant manager when needed.
Work towards reduction of waste by highlighting potential problematic areas.
