Ntengwe for Community Development is a local non-profit organization focusing on Child Protection, Care and Development, Health and Education, Social and Climate Justice (Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction) and Economic Empowerment development themes in Zimbabwe. We operate in Binga, Hwange and Lupane districts in Matabeleland North Province. Our commitment to mutual partnerships at all levels and dedication to long lasting sustainable strategies enable us to have a lasting impact on the individuals and communities we work with. We are seeking for a qualified, skilled and competent FEMALE candidate, for a Lupane district-based position of Project Officer that is open within our organization.

About the Position

This is a contract based position with possibilities of renewal based on individual performance and the availability of resources. The Project Officer will work as part of a team whose main duties are to enable the successful implementation and completion of The Pathways to Economic Justice on Women’s Land Rights in Lupane district. This Programme is part of the Leading from the South Grant which is a consortium of 5 organizations from Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda with Ntengwe for Community Development as the Lead Partner.

Main Responsibilities

The Project Officer will be based in Lupane district and she reports directly to the Programmes Coordinator; She creates programme activity plans and generates project concept notes; Responsible for the day to day implementation of programme activities; She will work closely with the Field Assistant to deliver adequate technical support for trained community structures within the programme; Responsible for proactively engaging and networking with all project stakeholders including attending to Rural District Development Committee meetings; She ensures the day to day monitoring of project activities; She generates and maintains with the assistance of the Field Assistant a data base on project beneficiaries and activities; She compiles periodic project reports for submission to the Programmes Coordinator; Undertakes any other duties as may be assigned by management.

Requirements

University degree in Social Sciences or Gender and Policy, Women’s Law relevant to the following areas: Social and Climate justice, Women’s Rural Development and Land Rights, Community Development, Inclusion, Women’s Economic Empowerment; Demonstrated ability to work with grassroots women, and coordinate with the Ministries of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement and Women Affairs, Community Small and Medium Enterprise Development and other members of the Rural District Development Committee; Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (Ndebele and English), as well as an ability to meet deadlines and work independently; Strong writing skills are particularly important for this position; The Candidate must be able to function in a fast-paced environment and excel in managing multiple competing priorities in day-to-day tasks; Must have at least 3 years’ working experience, with two years of professional work experience in the NGO sector and field work experience and should be in line with Women’s Economic Empowerment as well as Land Policies related interventions; Clean Class 3 and 4 Driver’s License is a MUST.
