Job Summary

Reporting to the Team Leader, the Project Engineer will be responsible for providing technical guidance in the design, implementation, and certification of infrastructural projects.

Key duties and Responsibilities
• Undertakes detailed feasibility study and pre-check surveys in conjunction with relevant government departments to determine scope of work (including person days, food, workers)
• Generates Bill of Quantities (BoQs), financial budget and technical design for the project
• Provides input into procurement plan (technical input, specifications, delivery timelines) and submits to Project Manager
• Contributes to new proposal development and provides technical guidance to the designated C/FFA project field assistants, logistical and information support with respect to food basket, NFI material dispatches, cash/food distributions, monitoring and evaluation
• Trains community asset management members and staff on construction standards, operation and maintenance of created or rehabilitated infrastructure
• Supervises the contractor / communities during the project implementation
• Monitors and reviews use and movement of project hardware (such as NFIs, equipment), resources and assets (such as level equipment) and monitores a reconciliation of project activities in line with the budget
• Facilitates collaborative joint progress monitoring at project sites with relevant government technical departments and local authorities at provincial and district levels
• Coordinates learning visits with project partner organisations
• Compiles and maintains asset registers for NFI materials at project sites and prepares disposal plans for the materials
• Facilitates handover of completed livelihood assets to communities and stakeholders

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• Degree in Civil Engineering/Agricultural Engineering or equivalent
• 4-6 years experience in community projects engineering or related field
• Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent report writing skills
• Exceptional planning and organizing skills.
