PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – VALUE ADDED SERVICES (VAS)

Job Purpose

• Developments of new business (or product) concepts and business cases and coordinates these new businesses (or products) primarily in the area of Value Added Services to add new revenue streams, cut costs or enhance brand equity for Econet.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Commercial, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering Degree
• A relevant vocational qualification in Product Management, Business Analytics & Machine Learning will be an added advantage.
• 2 – 4 years’ experience in a similar or related environment.

Key Result Areas

• Identifies new customer segments to target with existing external VAS products so as to increase overall revenue from product portfolio.
• Initiates and proposes appropriate VAS products to retain and lock-in customers and prevent outgoing churn.
• Tracks revenue contribution of each VAS product against cost of sales and recommends loss makers for termination.
• Works with VAS partners identified and signed up by Procurement Department in the rollout of new VAS products and modification of existing ones.
• Negotiates the terms and conditions of the contract(s) with all external VAS vendors to ensure optimal revenue rewards to Econet and clear responsibility and accountability for optimal product performance.
• Recommends for contractual termination of VAS partnership upon breach of contract, consistent poor functional and revenue performance by product or similar.
• Identifies key local, regional and international VAS trends by conducting researches on the internet, journals and other research organizations.
• Prepares the Product Concept Note(s) in liaison with external VAS partners and relevant internal departments (e.g. Information Systems).
• Prepares the Business Requirements Document (Business Rules) in liaison with the external VAS vendor and relevant technical departments.
• Initiates quality checks through the evaluation and review of product design and market readiness before launch.
• Offers second line support and troubleshooting to EWZ customer service staff for all external VAS products and services.
• Reports daily, weekly and monthly on uptake and revenue per VAS product line.
• Provides weekly and monthly reports of the technical performance of each VAS product and recommends areas of further development.
• Recommends for the alignment of the ATL and BTL Marketing campaigns with circumstances in the trade e.g. VAS product uptake and ensures the implementation of different Marketing Mix (Product, Price, Promotion & Place) interventions.
