PROCUREMENT ASSISTANT
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates, to fill the above mentioned vacancy that has arisen within the Municipality of Chegutu.
Reporting to the Procurement Manager
Key Result Areas:
• Assist in overseeing procurement of goods, services and construction works for council in accordance with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act.
• Assist in preparation of bid documents.
• Assist in preparing and processing requisitions, sourcing quotations and raising procurement orders for council.
• Assist in managing procurement contracts or overseeing their management.
• Assist in preparing contract documents and amendments.
• Ensuring that stock levels of existing materials and spares are maintained.
• Ensuring through market research so that goods, services and construction works are procured at the most economical prices commensurate with the quality required.
• Assist in supplier evaluation.
• Inspection of goods received from suppliers for compliance with specifications, quality and quantity ordered.
• Conduct annual stock counts.
• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:
• 5 “0” Levels including English and Mathematics.
• ND/HND in Purchasing and Supply, Supply Chain Management or any related qualifications in procurement/purchasing.
• Relevant experience in local government environment, or public organization.
• Knowledge of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act.
• Membership of a recognized professional board such as Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply is an added advantage.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels both verbal and script
• Computer Literacy:All Microsoft applications.
• Knowledge of PROMUN is an added advantage.
• Organized and able to work under pressure.
