Plant Engineer (Mechanical) The following vacancy has arisen at a leading sugarcane grower and a fuel manufacturing concern based in the Lowveld.
POSITION TITLE: PLANT ENGINEER (MECHANICAL) REPORTS TO: FACTORY
MANAGER POSITION SUMMARY:
The position requires a mature mechanical engineer responsible for planning, directing and coordinating of all mechanical activities concerned with design, construction, modification and maintenance of equipment and machinery within the ethanol production and processing plant.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES and ATTRIBUTES:
- Establishing mechanical standards and policies, installation, modification quality control, testing, operating procedures, inspection and maintenance of plant equipment and machinery according to professional engineering principles and safety regulations. Coordinating the designing and implementation of planned maintenance system programs in consultation with other factory stakeholders.
- Providing an efficient interface with other engineering departments to evaluate all upcoming capital projects, analyse and obtain required feedback for all equipment and layouts in order to complete the projects within stipulated timeframes. Coordinating and monitoring identified mechanical capital improvement projects. Collaborating with various departments to maintain mechanical integrity of all plant programs.
- Ensuring that all critical components/spares required for effective day to day running of the plant are ordered in time, in correct quantities and quality. Be hands-on and perform troubleshooting on plant activities and resolve all issues to the total satisfaction on the Production Department.Interfacing with HR in the effective recruitment of competent personnel and recommending training programs where appropriate.
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Professionally registered Mechanical Engineer
- At least 10 years experience of which 5 years should have been spent preferably in a sugar milling industry.
- Possesses high level of technical, professional and analytical ability where problems are complex.
- Proven and demonstrated knowledge in project management and planned maintenance.
- Excellent planning, time and man management skills.
- Display interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with subordinates and business partners to meet business goals.
