Legal Officer

Purpose of Role

  • Responsible for managing and monitoring the Institution’s legal risk, legal operational issues, provision Of sound legal advice and secretariat services to achieve agreed performance targets in accordance with the Institution’ s Strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management through negotiation, drafting and review of all contracts ensuring all contracts protect the business interests of the institution.
  • Management and identification of legal risk in line with strategic objectives and regulatory standards for the organisation.
  • Litigation Management through review of cases and tracking progress on various litigation cases i liaison with external lawyers.
  • Provision and interpretation of statutes and legal information or any Other documentation where the Institution has committed itself and provision Of timeous legal advice and advisory services to customers where required.
  • Regular review of the legal environment through remedial action/recommendations where appropriate and incorporation of legal requirements into operational policies and procedures

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • LL B (Hons) Degree
  • Registered Legal Practitioner
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in private practice, experience in the commercial sector will be an added advantage.
  • Must embrace the core values of the organization who establishes him/herself as a team player who is both flexible and intellectually agile.
