Secure Future Africa is a non-profit organization in the early stages of growth committed to strengthening water, energy and food security (WEF) and natural resources governance for sustainable climate resilient development. The organisation is anchored on the conviction that a better future in which all people thrive can be created through strengthening access to safe and potable water, access to clean and renewable energy as well as access to adequate quality food as the foundation for socio-economic development.
This conviction is anchored on the realisation that water, energy and food are inextricably interlinked and directly impact the environment. The WEF nexus also forms the core of people’s day to day livelihoods. Managing the water, energy and food interactions from a nexus perspective greatly enhances its contribution to socio-economic development and directly impacts all other facets of development including education, health and sanitation, economic growth, livelihoods and poverty alleviation, environment and climate change amongst others. Secure Future Africa pursues a people centred as well as rights based approach in pursuit of a better future for all.
We are currently accepting applications from university students who wish to gain hands-on experience in a non-profit environment with our Programs Team based in Plumtree, for the period October 2018 to August 2019.
Requirements
Students in universities, colleges or professional institutions studying towards relevant degrees or diplomas with a good academic track record; must be at the industrial attachment stage of their studies and wish to gain professional experience in Water, Energy and Food governance, research and advocacy, livelihoods and entrepreneurship programming as well as environment and climate action; Interns should be self-driven and self-motivated and be able to handle a dynamic and technology driven work environment; Female candidates are encouraged to apply.
