HEALTH PROMOTIONS OFFICER

The incumbent will be reporting to tree Director of Health Services and will be responsible for:

• Identify health education/ health promotions needs of the community one draw up a plan of action / intervention to address the problems.
• Prepare an annual work plan for the health promotion unit in the city.
• Organize, direct, coordinate, implement, integrate and evaluate health promotion activities in the city
• Advise the director of health services of matters pertaining torn health education/ health promotion.
• Plan and conduct all health education/ promotion in service workshops/ seminars in the city.
• Undertake health education/ promotion teaching in health and health related trainings institutions.
• Train other health workers on issues pertaining to health education / health promotion, as well as supervise and evaluate trainee health education/ health promotions officers in the city.
• Undertake health education/ health promotion research in the city.
• Identify health education/ promotions areas of priority in the city level and make recommendation
• Coordinates functions or community health clubs.
• Plan, organize and implement health education campaigns on diseases that occur in outbreak in outbreaks e.g. cholera, anthrax, rabies, malaria, etc. and special health events in the city.
• Develop project proposals for funding of the citys health education activities
• Plan, conduct and evaluate health education activities for ongoing programmes e.g. HIV and AIDS/ STIs, TB, Malaria, control of diarrhoea diseases e.g. cholera, etc.
• Coordinate all health education activities within the health within the health and health related ministries.
• NGOs and other sectors in the city
• Prepare, develop and distribute appropriate health education messages and materials for various population in the city
• Plan and prepare local health education materials in collaboration with other health promotions managers
• Undertake community organization for health e.g. organizes city IEC committee and promote community participation.
• Direct and supervise distribution of audio-visual equipment and materials it the city
• Prepare regular reports for feedback to the director of health services
• Prepare consolidated annual reports to health education activities carried out in the city
• Manage and control use of funds from the health promotions vote
• Maintain and update the health promotion unit asset register.
• Coordinate the commemoration of national health events e.g, World AIDS Day, World TB Day, Africa Malaria Day, etc at city level.
• Campaigning and community mobilization
• Manage the health promotions unit in the city.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Health Services.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a holder of a Health education and promotion degree or equivalent.
• Possession of a MPH is an added advantage.
• A minimum of 3 years working experience is a must.
