Job Summary
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced personnel to fill the above-mentioned vacant positions, which have fallen vacant in the Works Department. The incumbent will be reporting to GIS Officer.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Collecting data using GPS devices, aerial photography, and other tools to create maps or other graphic representations of data
- Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to store, analyze, and manage data that has been gathered from field surveys or other sources
- Creating maps and other graphics using Geographic Information System (GIS) software to display data in visual formats for a variety of purposes, such as communicating environmental hazards or land use planning Designing custom maps and other graphics for presentations, publications, reports, and other purposes
- Advising managers on the best use of GIS technology to support organizational goals Installing, repairing, and maintaining computers and software used for GIS applications Researching new GIS technology to determine its potential utility for specific applications within an organization
Qualifications And Experience
- Diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Geography and Environmental Science or equivalent
- 5 years of experience working with GI
- Proficient with ArcView, ArcGIS, Arc Info, ArcMap and other ESRI products
- Must be 30 years and above Knowledge of Mathematics, Algebra, Trigonometry, and Geometry.
- Knowledge of civil engineering, mapping and surveying principles, terms, concepts, techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of public works and engineering data and records management systems and practices.
- Knowledge and ability to operate database and reporting applications.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to understand technical manuals and follow established procedures.
