Job Description

The Southern Africa Cross Border Association (SACBTA), a non profit trade association of informal cross border persons in Southern Africa is inviting applications for the position of Gender and Social Inclusion Officer.    The duty station is Harare with extensive travel in the SADC region.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the SACBTA Secretary General the incumbent will be responsible for the following:
    • Working with national Gender and Social Inclusion Focal Persons to roll out the SACBTA Gender Strategy and facilitate its review;
    • Provide gender related technical support to the various committees of SACBTA.
    • Mainstreams gender and social inclusion in SACBTA programmes and initiatives
    • Prepares quarterly and annual reports on gender and inclusion related activities;
    • Act as gender and focal point for SACBTA.
    • Take part in resource mobilisation efforts of the Association to support sustainability of gender and social inclusion programming within SACBTA

 

Qualifications, Attributes and skills

  • Masters Degree in Social sciences, Gender, and Development Studies or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of gender
  • Substantive understanding of gender dimensions of trade within SADC region.
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory and organizational skills.
  • Experience in training gender and capacity building skills;
  • Strong familiarity with current developments in the field of gender and women empowerment
  • Ability to engage stakeholders at the highest level, including CSOs, governments and   funding partners.
  • Proficiency in English written and spoken is a pre-requisite. Fluency in Portuguese or French will be an added advantage.
