Finance Assistant – UZCHS-PERFECT
The UZCHS-PERFECT program is calling for applications from suitably qualified candidates for an ANTICIPATED grant to implement the CHIP initiative under the STRengthening InterProfessional Education for HIV (STRIPE HIV) program. These will form the CHIP administrative team that will work under the supervision of the UZCHS-PERFECT Program Director with immediate supervision by the CHIP Principal Investigator. This initiative will be funded through University of California, San Francisco and AFREhealth by Human Resources and Services Administration for a period of 9 months. Please note that offer of employment will only be confirmed once funding has been approved.

Position

The Finance Assistant will implement all the accounting functions of the program funds and for ensuring the uninterrupted flow of funding from the funder. S/He will work in collaboration with the PERFECT finance team. S/He will be responsible for ensuring smooth functioning of the CHIP program’s integrity, accountability and transparency processes. The position will be under the supervision of the UZCHS-PERFECT Training Coordinator.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Overall financial management of program funds; Review of all program expenditures and ensure correct coding to budget line items;
• Ensure production of financial management reports;
• Ensure that appropriate policies and systems of checks and balances are in place to protect the program resources;
• Manage the program cashflow;
• Procurement of program equipment ensuring that all purchases are in accordance with grant requirements;
• Payments – generating requisitions, checking invoices for correctness and signing all processed payment vouchers;
• Data entry into the system ensuring integrity and completeness of data for the generation of informative financial reports;
• Monthly bank reconciliations;
• Ensure external audit of program accounts

Qualifications & Competencies

• A degree in accountancy or Graduate Diploma in Accounting such as CIMA, CIS, ACCA or similar qualification, Postgraduate degree will be an advantage;
• Five years or more of progressive experience in managing NGO finances;
• Honesty and good integrity;
• Good communication skills;
• Attention to detail and good analytical skills
