FIELD OPERATIONS ENGINEERS (9 Posts)

Responsibility

Reporting to Radio Operations Managers (East and West)

Key Job Purpose

To out Operation and Maintenance tasks on the EISS and Transmission network elements so as to provide optimum service to the customers safely. timely and cost effectively with minimum supervision.

Principal Job Responsibilities

Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for optimal network performance viz.
Carry out first Ione maintenance on the standby generator plant, rectifiers, batteries and air conditioning plant
Analyze alarm log details to establish fault trends and develop corrective and preventive measures
Maintain and update records. system drawings. station files, route schematics, eta
Implement configuration changes as per instructions from the Manager in order to optimize network performance 6 Continuously monitor network status so as to ensure timeous intervention in the event of problems
Assist the Network Planning and Projects department. when required to do so, in the installation, testing and commissioning of new network elements A Any other ad hoc duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

Telecommunications Technician Diploma/ FTC in Telecommunications / Degree in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering /Degree in Telecommunications/or equivalent
Three years’ experience in Mobile cellular radio networks or microwave radiosCompetencies
Computer literacy including an understanding of – Operating Systems. DO UNIX, Applications, MS Office
Understanding of 1TU-R and ITU-T Recommendation Series
Understanding of Transmission systems and good knowledge of GSM
Knowledge of and adherence to safe working procedures
Ability of both guyed and self-supporting towers
Possession of a clean class 4 driver’s license and at least 2 years driving experience is a must
