The University seeks to appoint a dynamic and results oriented Information and Communication Technology Services Director who must be passionate about technology and dedicated to excellent service and value provision. This is a position of strategic importance to the University suited to a highly motivated, solution-focused and astute strategic leader.
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the Director is responsible for the management, strategy and execution of Information Technology infrastructure for the University.
Duties And Responsibilities
The position specifically requires the successful applicant to have the capacity to:
• Lead, direct and manage the Information Technology infrastructure of the University; ensuring good governance and systems functioning, including digitalising the information technology environment for process optimization.
• Implement the approved Information and Communication Technology strategy of the University and to initiate changes to the strategy which exploit emerging technologies to enhance the value and benefits to the University community.
• Plan, implement and manage the University’s information management systems; and procure and manage hardware and software that meets the needs of the University.
• Direct the effective delivery of networks, development, and disaster recovery systems and processes.
• Maintain relations with diverse stakeholder groups as regards Information and Communication Technology, and ensure that strategies are in place to respond to identified campus-wide needs; and to provide capacity building opportunities to user groups.
• Control Departmental budget within the framework laid down by the University.

• Excellent strategic thinking and conceptual skills that facilitate the achievement of strategic, tactical and operational results.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• A self-starter and dynamic conceiver and pilot of Information Technology initiatives.
• Good mentorship skills to coach Departmental staff, users and Departments.
