Consultant – E-Learning Course Designer

Organizational Background
Partners for Integrated Growth and Development (pigad) is a duly registered Zimbabwean Development Trust (0000997/2014). The organization was established in 2014 and it is driven by the vision to empower communities through relief, rehabilitation and developmental programmes in both urban and rural communities.
Currently, pigad is implementing an agribusiness development intervention in Mashonaland East Province with a targeted outreach of 3000 smallholder poultry farmer households and 300 young entrepreneurs. The programme is being facilitated by Help from Germany, supported and financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The Position
pigad is seeking to recruit an E-learning Course Designer for its agribusiness project. The position is based at the Head Office in Harare, however with frequent travel to operational areas within Mashonaland East Province. The ideal candidate for this position would be a highly driven individual with significant relevant technical experience and the ability to thrive in a changing environment.

Purpose of the position
The main purpose of this position is to develop and set up well-designed, simple and user friendly e-learning courses for young adults (smallholder farmers/entrepreneurs). The courses shall be visual attractive and engaging learning activities, including videos, images, gamified elements and quizzes.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Create well-designed functional/technical online training courses and adapt trainings to smallholder farmers and young entrepreneurs’ needs
• Stimulate end user appetite for the e-learning participation
• Gather knowledge from subject matter experts and available resources to mold the information into interactive, educational deliverables comprised of text, video, and other multimedia elements
• Testing and adjusting of the courses

This description is not exhaustive, and the consultant may be required to undertake duties that are broadly in line with the above responsibilities.

Skills and Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Systems and or related studies with relevant experience
• Experience with e-Learning development, preferable Moodle
• Experience in the development of youth/adult and farmer training modules
• Interest in latest youth/adult learning theories and curriculum development
• A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
• The ability to use a digital camera, a tablet and a video camera
• The ability to work in an environment of change and innovation while maintaining organization
• Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
