Background to Consultancy

Forum for African Women Educationalists – Zimbabwe Chapter (FAWEZI) was established in 1998 to address gender disparities in education and promote educational opportunities for girls and women. FAWEZI is implementing a project: Maximizing Opportunities for Adolescent Girls and Young Women’s SRHR awareness in Shamva and Chitungwiza. The project seeks identify available opportunities and platforms to empower girls with relevant information about their SRHR. FAWEZI is therefore seeking the services of a consultant to conduct an in-depth baseline survey. The baseline should provide a critical reference point for assessing changes and impact, establish a basis for comparing the situation before and after an intervention, and for making inferences as to the effectiveness of the project.

Scope of the Project
The project seeks to: maximize opportunities for adolescents and young women’s sexual reproductive healthawareness. The specific objectives of the project are as follows:
Objective 1: To increase Sexual Reproductive Health Rights awareness amongst 1000 adolescents & young women from 2 marginalized districts.
Objective 2: To increase access to SRH services/products and information amongst 1000 individuals from marginalized groups
Objective 3: To increase organizational participation in country level SRHR joint reviews, assessment and policy dialogue

Purpose of the Consultancy:
Services of a consultant are being required to conduct a baseline survey in line with the specific objecives of the project. The methodology should include assessing the adolesents’ knowledge levels on SRHR, their perceptions and levels of access to SRHR services, mapping & assess availability of SRHR services and comprehensive sexuality education initiatives (both in-school and community based) in the respective 2 districts and mapping of current policy issues and dialogues regarding SRHR for adolescents at all levels (district, provincial and national).

Deliverables
The consultant will be responsible for the following deliverables: Inception report with clear methodology and data collection tools; Submission of the draft version of the baseline survey for feedback and comments; Submission of final version of the baseline survey incorporating comments received

The detailed assignment timelines will be agreed on with successful candidate.
