National Building Society Limited seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Chief Technology and Innovation Officer (CTIC)) to consolidate and lead its digital transformation agenda, in line with its aspiration to deliver competitive commercial banking services and affordable low-cost housing. Reporting to the Managing Director, the CTIO will be primarily responsible for managing the process of innovation and leveraging on cutting edge technology to re-engineer the Society’s processes and product offering. In addition to his/her primary responsibility of leading innovation, the incumbent will also hove oversight on the ICT, Operations and Digital Banking functions.
Duties And Responsibilities
o Formulate and implement strategies to harness innovations that make it cheaper, foster and simpler to achieve the short-, medium- and long-term goals of the Society.
o Oversee the development and implementation of annual plans by the Technology, Operations, Digital Banking and R&D Departments to ensure achievement of objectives.
o Develop and implement Service Level Agreements with all departments and collaborate to establish their development priorities and budgets
o Establish a transparent process or incentive system that challenges other people to be Innovators e.g., internal
website where any employee can contribute ideas for improving existing products or developing new ones.
o Set up a research and development function and harness innovative thinking that identifies and addresses customer needs, goals and transactional preferences.
o Evaluate ideas generated and lobby for adequate resource allocation to develop and implement cost-effective solutions to challenges faced by customers and departments
o Focus on breakthrough innovations especially in the area of customer acquisition and satisfaction
o Monitor customer feedback, service requests and product review information to identify recurring problems that require innovative solutions.
o Identify protects that hove strong commercial potential and develop a business case to adopt quickly and generate revenue and return on investment.
o Collaborate with technology vendors to develop new capabilities and architecture; new business models and new processes to create disruptive competitive advantage.
o Review all internal processes with a view to automate e.g., transaction processing; reconciliations; financial
planning and reporting processes including monthly forecasts, monthly and annual budgets and reviews.
o Build and manage a high performing team by providing role clarity, training and performance feedback in accordance with established HR policies and procedures and take decisive action to ensure speedy resolution of any staff grievances or conflicts within the team.
o Work closely with senior executives to ensure that all innovations align with corporate strategy, overarching business goals and technological capabilities.
Qualifications and Experience Required
o The successful candidate will typically be an innovative ICT technocrat who believes in operational excellence and can effectively become the bridge between ICT; Operations; and Business by focusing on maximizing the Bank’s leverage on technology
o Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science (Masters will be a distinct advantage)
o An expert understanding of databases, financial analysis, website design, search engine optimization, digital marketing and e-commerce will be key
o A strong grasp of modern technology and social media is essential for the job.
o Outstanding analytical, planning, organizing and problem-solving skills.
o Excellent oral and written communication skills (including report writing)
o Minimum 5 years’ experience at Senior Management level
o Cybersecurity systems exposure and Fintech experience
o Passionate about the voice of the customer and process engineering
o High standards of confidentiality and ethics to safeguard commercially sensitive information
o People management/team development and inter-personal skills at all levels
o Familiar with the balanced scorecard.
