Position Overview
Cottco, the leading cotton production and marketing entity in Zimbabwe, is seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to guide the company through its next growth phase. The successful candidate will provide high-level leadership across operational, financial, and strategic dimensions while promoting sustainable practices within the agricultural sector.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a national institution and drive value for farmers, stakeholders, and the broader economy. The CEO will report directly to the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute long-term strategic plans focused on production, growth, and market development
- Provide visionary leadership to a diverse and multi-disciplinary team
- Ensure sound financial performance through effective budgeting and cost control
- Build and manage strong stakeholder relationships, including with farmers, suppliers, government agencies, and development partners
- Promote and implement sustainable agricultural practices and corporate social responsibility initiatives
- Serve as the public face of Cottco, representing the company at industry forums and national events
- Carry out any other duties as directed by the Board
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field
- MBA or a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is a strong advantage
- At least 10 years’ experience in a senior executive or leadership role within agriculture or a related sector
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning and business growth
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing large budgets and operations
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
