Building Services Handyman – Builder/Painter/Carpenter
JOB OVERVIEW.
The Building Services Handyman – Builder/Painter/carpenter shall perform skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled work in maintenance and repair of various building systems and facilities, and these works include building, painting, carpentry, plastering and plumbing. He/she shall be responsible for estimating materials required for various building works and time estimates.
Key Duties & Responsibilities (Responsible to the Maintenance Engineer).
1. To paint all buildings and equipment, according to generally accepted painting practices with correct tools.
2. To repair floors, walls, ceilings, roofs using a variety of specialized materials.
3. To make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, coverings, for all building works, which includes painting, building, plastering and carpentry.
4. To build, plaster and skim new and old civil structures.
5. To build or repair cabinets, doors, ceilings, roofs, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using wood working machines, carpenter’s hand tools, and power tools.
6. To carry out floor and wall tiling.
7. To prepare bill of material requirements for all building works which include painting, building, plastering and carpentry and also sourcing of the materials.
8. To interpret plans before physical construction.
9. Perform plumbing and welding works.
10. Supervising outsourced building contractors to ensure safety standards are maintained and works remain on schedule.
11. To regularly inspect condition of buildings and utilities as per building maintenance standard operating procedure and advise management on necessary remedial works.
12. To carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Maintenance Engineer.
• 5 ‘O’ Levels including Mathematics, Science and English Language.
• Class 2 trade tested journeyman.
• At least five years working experience in a similar position within a manufacturing company.
• Mature and able to work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to read plans and specifications.
• Knowledge of applicable building codes and by-laws.
• Able to work on heights.
• Able to work outside normal working hours.
