Welthungerhilfe (German Agro Action) PVO 21/2003 is leading a consortium of NGOs to support the Zimbabwe Ministry of Agriculture’s Departments of Research, Education and Extension in its Agriculture Knowledge and Innovations System Project funded by the EU under the Zimbabwe Agricultural Growth Programme.

We are looking for suitable candidates to fill the position below. If you are prepared to dedicate yourself to carrying out projects under sometimes difficult conditions and you match the requirements set out below, we look forward to receiving your application.

Work closely with the project specialists such as private sector players, Livestock Meat Advisory Council, Department of Veterinary Services, LPD and Agritex and provide capacity building; Facilitate market linkages between the beef producers and the market; Facilitate and offer training on livestock husbandry to the farmers; Coordinate beef sales activities; Responsible for recruitment, support, training and technical backstopping of 10-15 community-based mobilisers; Responsible for mobilizing farmers into farmer groups and training of these groups with the assistance of staff from the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement and community-based mobilisers; Liaison and ensuring good relations with all stakeholders including Agritex, DVS, LPD, RDC, ZFU, Private Sector and traditional leaders especially at ward level.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science, Crop Science or any other related field; At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role in the NGO Sector; Excellent training and communication skills; Clean class 4 driver’s licence
