Assistant Boarding Master – Higher Life Foundation

Job Purpose 

An opportunity has arisen within Higherlife Foundation for suitably qualified persons to fill in the position of Assistant Boarding Master. The successful incumbent will be reporting to the Head of Academy and is responsible for the overall leadership and smooth running of the Boarding House, the supervision and guidance of staff and, above all, the safety and welfare of the students. The role involves working closely with other members of teaching staff across the school, as well as administration staff and other support staff to ensure the efficient and smooth running of the Academy

Qualifications 

• Degree in Education, Psychology, or any related relevant field.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar or related environment
• High levels of integrity and confidentiality
• Passionate about working with young people
• Outstanding people skills, and ability to work with wide variety of partners
• Able to establish a healthy rapport with pupils, staff, parents and teachers
• A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children

Key results area

• Provides pastoral care of pupils, as well as support student’s emotional, cultural and intellectual development
• Assists student as they settle into the Academy’s life
• Organises and attends social activities for students such as games, tours and birthday celebrations
• Supervises boarding house staff to ensure a clean and hygienic student environment
• Provides basic counselling, advice and or guidance to students on social, personal matters and professional choices
• Maintains close relationships and good communication with all parents
• Maintains a detailed and up to date student records/database
• Maintains close liaison with the medical services providers such as doctors, emergency rescue service in case of emergency
• Coordinate transportation arrangements for students as and when necessary including airport pick-ups and drop-offs, doctors appointment etc
• Supervise students making sure that they are punctual for meals and other school activities such as assemblies
• Maintains discipline and order within the boarding house
• Ensures compliance with Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Policies as guided by internal regulations
