Background
International Medical Corps is a consortium member implementing the USAID-Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) funded Resilience Food Security Activity (RFSA), Amalima Loko in Matabeleland North province of Zimbabwe. The USD75 million Amalima Loko project seeks to elevate the livelihoods of more than 67,000 vulnerable households across five districts of Zimbabwe’s Matabeleland North: Binga, Hwange, Lupane, Nkayi, and Tsholotsho.
The project looks at improving human health and livelihoods, with the health and nutrition component (Purpose 3) looking at improving the adoption of care, nutrition, health, and WASH practices for women of reproductive age (WRA) and children under five (CU5) years. The project also aims to improve nutritional adequacy among WRA & CU5. International Medical Corps’ role is to technically lead on the health and nutrition activities for Amalima Loko.
International Medical Corps is looking for the above short-term positions to support the project to conduct a Nutrition Causal Analysis (NCA) in Matabeleland North province. The NCA will provide Amalima Loko with a contextualized understanding of the causal pathways of undernutrition and the context specific causes of undernutrition in the project areas as well as identify the most promising pathways to change. The NCA will enable the program to design a more effective, context-specific response to address and prevent malnutrition.

Job summary
The Community Facilitator, with support from the NCA Lead Analyst leads/ organizes community mobilization for the qualitative study.
Job description
- Organization of interviews and group discussions in sampled communities;
- Take notes and prepare reports;
- Reception of participants in community exchanges;
- Organization of snacks / drinks for participants;
- Facilitation of meetings with participants;
- Organization of informal exchanges with members of the community, as needed;
- Active participation in daily debriefings and initial analysis of collected data;
- Minimum diploma in health / nutrition, sociology, WASH, gender studies, development studies;
- Professional NGO experience in the fields of health, nutrition, food security, water, sanitation and hygiene, or anthropology;
- Proven experience in community mobilization and qualitative research;
- Advanced skills in communication and information sharing;
- Experience working in rural areas with regular field trips
Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps
Qualifications
- Minimum diploma in health / nutrition, sociology, WASH, gender studies, development studies;
- Professional NGO experience in the fields of health, nutrition, food security, water, sanitation and hygiene, or anthropology;
- Proven experience in community mobilization and qualitative research;
- Advanced skills in communication and information sharing;
- Experience working in rural areas with regular field trips
Required competencies
- Perfect mastery of isiNdebele/Tonga/ Nambya and English (read / written / spoken);
- Excellent communication skills;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Experience working in Matabeleland North districts;
- Ability to work independently and as a team member;
- Neutrality, objectivity, sensitivity to local context, perseverance;
Preferred:
- Previous experience in KAP, SQUEAC, SMART, Barrier Analysis, and/or NCA methodologies
