AFC is a newly formed entity made up of four subsidiaries namely; AFC Commercial Bank, AFC Land and Development Bank, AFC insurance and AFC Leasing Company.
VACANCY: AFC LEASING COMPANY – MOTOR MECHANICS INCLUDING TRACTOR & DIESEL x 4
ROLE PROFILE
Reporting to the Service and Maintenance Manager with a dotted line to the General Manager; the Motor Mechanics will be capable of working independently in a small team of Four to five people, travelling to various client sites to effect repairing in the field and to retrieve and repair agricultural equipment as nessesary, carry out periodic servicing and maintenance of tractors, combine harvesters, planters, sprayers and irrigation pumps. Prospective candidates will need to be available for on call duty 24/7 especially during harvesting season. The candidates will need to possess extensive knowledge of the various kinds of Farm machinery used in different operations in Zimbabwe.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Travelling to and effecting repairs on farm equipment that breaks down in the field whenever the on-site repairing are warranted using the proper tools and equipment.
- Arranging for the transportation of pieces that need extensive repair to the nearest appropriate facility for assignment to an intensive repair team.
- Maintaining records of all shop supplies and tools used in the repairing process.
- Providing 24-hour coverage For services (3) calls assigned duty area and during on- call duty periods each month.
- Providing daytime support to the on-call mechanic whenever repairing jobs requiring extra support are called into dispatch services.
- Serving on location based repairing teams servicing the equipment brought in by on call farm equipment mechanics as they travel to client work sites.
- Carrying out pre-delivery inspection on ail equipment and able to calibrate equipment such as planters, sprayers and fertilizer spreaders.
Job Skills and Competencies
- Experience in farming preferably within the Agriculture and mechanisation sector is a distinct advantage.
- A good team player but with the initiative and drive to work on their own with an innovation drive.
- Ability to manage timelines and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to provide superior customer service
Qualifications and Experience
- Prospective candidates must have served a 4 year Aprenticeship program in Motor Mechanics to include tractor and Diesel or in Diesel Plant fitting with a reputable/recognized company or Institution.
- 5 ‘O’ Levels including English and Mathematics.
- A minimum of 3 years post apprenticeship experience.
- A Clean Class 4 Driving Licence.
