REPORTS TO: East Pork Producers Cooperative Company (EPPC)

ABOUT East Pork Producers Cooperative Company
East Pork Producers Cooperative Company (EPPC) is a coalition of pig producers organised formally to represent the interest of Murehwa, Marondera, Goromonzi, Seke producer associations. The EPPC and Ziyaduma formed a partnership to consolidate meat marketing arrangements targeting Chitungwiza and Harare market. Ziyaduma abattoir is a private owned business offering slaughter services based in Dema, Seke district. The EPPC has individual farmers supplying porkers regularly together with Ziyaduma stock through Ziyaduma Abattoir for collective marketing to identified Chitungwiza independent butcheries and other markets (Harare and beyond). The Partnership, through the EPPC Meat Marketing Business, seeks to organise pork producers, and deliver quality pork meat and pork meat products regularly on a sustainable and profit basis to improve the pork value chain.
ROLE PURPOSE
The purpose of the Meat Marketing Officer (MMO) is to facilitate and coordinate routine collective marketing of pork meat guided by market demand and partnership supply schedules. The MMO will operationalise the partnership meat marketing model to operate sustainably with support from partnership representatives and report on performance regularly to the partnership. The MMO will aggressively search for lucrative markets through a wholesale and retail meat marketing centre, for continuous supply of quality assured meat to paying market. The MMO will contribute towards the growth and development of partnership meat marketing businesses to the point of growing and sustaining weekly pork meat deliveries to Chitungwiza, Harare and other markets. The incumbent will mobilize more farmers for weekly pork meat supply (individually and in groups) linking them to more paying markets (existing, new ones). He will also provide continuous technical marketing guidance to the partnership with emphasis on market retention, new market penetration, competitor analysis, and quality assurance. The role is administered on a performance basis (e.g., number of monthly sales, kgs marketed, price advantage for the farmer) as defined through agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Develop strategic meat marketing business plan for the partnership including financial analysis to guide implementation.
• Facilitate Meat Marketing plan reviews and adoption by the Partnership for implementation.
• Define alternative meat marketing channels that gives competitive advantage for the partnership.
• Coordinate linkages between the pork farmers, Ziyaduma and identified markets for continuous meat marketing at sustainable pricing model.
• Facilitate continuous review of the market space and the business operating environment and offer regular technical advice that ensures business sustainability and growth 10%
b) Weekly marketing of quality assured pork and pork meat products • Facilitate and consolidate weekly market porkers demand by individual butcheries or other market by area/zones/type,
• Create porker marketing order request/marketing channels for coordinated meat marketing (e.g., farmer-buyers WhatsApp group)
• Create and update weekly individual and collective Partnership porkers marketing schedule.
• Facilitate weekly supply of quality assured porkers to identified market/s guided by agreed delivery model
• Facilitate weekly market analysis guided by stock marketed, price, marketing admin costs and net price for the individual farmer.
• Generate profitable returns for the Partnership members (farmers and Ziyaduma)
• Engage, negotiate, and bring over existing relationships with customers in the pork meat space and actively generate new relationships across for wholesalers and retail meat marketing to maximize market penetration.
• Keep up to date on pork meat pricing, markets, movements, and supply/demand pressure to capitalize on trading opportunity.
• Ensure smooth operational fluency with internal and external logistics personnel 65%
c) Performance monitoring and
Reporting • Develop weekly supply and delivery schedules for the partnership.
• Develop performance monitoring tools that should guide weekly performance tracking and reporting for each business.
• Facilitate internal audits on all business areas to ensure compliancy with financial standards, inventory management standards and SOP
• Facilitate orientation and regular training of Abattoir, wholesale, and retail staff to ensure quality maintenance guided by lessons from meat marketing.
• Develop, update, and maintain client database (farmers and buyers, including new players) by product and services to ensure effective performance tracking and feedback.
• Monitor and oversee the process and timely implementation of activities as agreed in the work plan, Partnership Agreement, and meetings resolutions.
• Develop and update all partnership visibility and awareness material including emails, bronchus, and branding.
• Compile weekly/monthly reports or data information sheets guided by an agreed reporting template and submit to the technical committee and Partnership rep in a timely manner.
• Facilitate weekly customer performance reviews to monitor performance and get feedback.
• Ensure Meat Marketing business adherence or compliance to legal and policy environment (e.g., RDC, City Council, Min of Healthy) 20%
d) Partnership, Leadership, & representation
• Facilitate partnership meetings guided by the partnership agreement’s specifications.
• Oversee implementation of partnership agreement roles and responsibilities to ensure adherence by individual partnerships.
• Act a key liaison person for the EPPC-Ziyaduma business partnership in consultation with the Partnership rep
• Participate in partnership meetings as requested by the partnership rep.
• Perform other duties/ responsibilities relevant to the position as delegated by EPPC 5%

JOB-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCES
• Strong knowledge of the Zimbabwean pork meat marketing business specifically Chitungwiza and Harare
• Excellent business, marketing, and negotiation skills
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and multitask.
• Effective communication skills and ability to network and establish collaboration with pork producers, abattoirs, and Chitungwiza pork meat markets (and Harare).
• Experience and skills in setting, managing, and achieving pork meat marketing targets in marketing.
• Ability to use computer programs like Ppt, Excel, and Word processing packages.
• Have a driver’s license and have experience riding a motorbike
• A Diploma in Marketing/business development/Agriculture or a relevant course. Practical experience working in the Pork meeting in Chitungwiza and Harare an added advantage.
• Minimum 2 years work experience within the Pork Meat Marketing, the livestock industry
• Experience working with Chitungwiza, Harare meat wholesalers, and butcheries on meat marketing
