Project Title: USAID Resilience ANCHORS
Directly reports to: Communication and Programs Specialist with matrix reporting to MEL Specialist
About
ECODIT seeks a qualified Graduate Intern under Programmes for the USAID Resilience ANCHORS Activity being implemented in communities in the South-East Lowveld and other conservation landscapes across Zimbabwe. On July 20, 2020, USAID awarded to ECODIT LLC the Resilience through ‘Accelerating New Community based Holistic Outcomes for Resource Sustainability (Resilience ANCHORS) Activity in Zimbabwe. The overarching purpose of the Resilience ANCHORS Activity is to increase the capacity of communities to sustainably protect and manage community-based natural resources and the wildlife economy (based on the conviction that nature is an economic asset) in anticipation of future shocks and stresses. The activity has three main objectives: Improve economic benefits from strengthened community-level governance and oversight of conservation enterprises; Increase sustainable access to supplies of water of sufficient quantity and quality to meet human, economic, and ecosystem needs; Strengthen locally led development and private sector engagement.
Purpose of the role
The Graduate Intern-Programme For Resilience ANCHORS will provide support to enhance the overall management, coordination and implementation of activities implemented. S/he will support programmes areas that include Programme design, Work Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), Branding, Marking and Communication.
Specific responsibilities
Assist the DCOP to coordinate with Sub partners and Consultants, ensuring that Activity Plans and Scope of Works are produced, implemented, and reported in a timely manner; Support planning and convening of Partner Coordination Meetings, Annual Work Planning and Pause and Reflect Workshops; Support monitoring and evaluation by capturing and reporting feedback from field-based staff; Support MEL to monitor and assess implementation progress, identify barriers and constraints, and work collaboratively with project teams to devise solutions; Provide support in proof reading and presentation of communication materials including reports, posters / banners and audio / video; Take photographs and record audio and video of programme activities; Support sub partners and other field staff in documentation of project activities; Support the Project Coordination Unit (PCU) with ensuring compliance to USAID marking and branding guidelines; Liaise with finance and administration to ensure seamless logistical support for all programme events; Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Working relationships
Internal: USAID Resilience ANCHORS: Interact on a regular basis with the PCU at country level; Always engage with and support project staff; USAID Resilience ANCHORS partnerships: Liaise with USAID Resilience ANCHORS partner organizations, and with relevant teams to provide input and seek support as required.
External: Interact with all relevant stakeholders, especially major government partner institutions (specifically the District Development Coordinator, Rural District Councils, local councillors, traditional leaders and relevant government ministries).
Education and qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Monitoring & Evaluation, Communication, Development Studies, Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, Natural Resources Management, Agriculture, or other related fields; Wildlife Conservation and Resilience Building; Knowledge of Community Based Natural Resources Management (CBNRM) ConservationEnterprises and Livelihoods diversification; Awareness of local Zimbabwean cultures and languages in the Southeast and the Zambezi Lowvelds; Strong research (data collection) and analytical skills; Good writing skills; A minimum of 1 year working in CBNRM or community development project; Demonstrated experience in all aspects of the Programme Management cycle; Previous experience working in USAID funded projects an added advantage; Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel; English language fluency (reading, writing, speaking); Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills; Tact and diplomacy. Problem solving and conflict management; Strong analytic and excellent writing skills; Ability to work with diverse groups; Ability to establish rapport with senior managers; Travelling frequently; Diplomatic; Resilient; Tactful
